AIMS Executive Director

1977-78

AIMS formed; Carl L. Bauer, MD, elected as the first AIMS president.
The AIMS board of directors began planning, writing bylaws, and establishing goals and objectives.

1979
First AIMS Journal published
First AIMS chapter formed in Montezuma, Mexico

1980
Active membership in North America reached 400
AIMS directors met in Dallas, Texas, at the 1980 General Conference
AIMS co-sponsored the first continuing medical education course with the Health Department of the Australasian Division
1981
Jamaica AIMS chapter formed
AIMS Argentina chapter organized
AIMS offices moved to the newly-opened Alumni Center building

1982
AIMS co-sponsored four European medical conventions
P. William Dysinger, MD, AIMS president-elect, participated in a workshop in Washington, D.C., to plan how U.S. Private\Voluntary Organizations (PVO) could best help the current health needs of Lebanon
AIMS Brazil chapter formed

1983
During March/April, Dr. P. William Dysinger, AIMS president-elect, visited the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Upon his return, Dr. Dysinger observed, "The strength and future of AIMS is in its local
chapter development

1984
AIMS comes under the umbrella of the Alumni Association
AIMS board of directors approved and placed high priority on the development of a Health Evangelism Study Guide
In April the AlMS-Mexico chapter was formed in Montemorelos, Mexico
On September 20-23, AIMS Argentina held a preventive medicine congress at River Plate, Argentina
On November 1 -3, the Adventist health professionals of French speaking Europe (AMAL - MMS chapter met at Seminaire Adventiste, Collonges, France

1985
On July 5,1985, Dr. Carrol S. Small presented an AIMS report at the General Conference Session in New Orleans
1986
AIMS president Eloy Schutz MD, presented a speech at the Congress of Medicine at Montemorelos University

1987
In August, AlMS-Mexico convention was held in Mazatlan, Mexico

1988
The Adventist Medical Study Guide (AMSG) advisory committee formed
AIMS assisted Philippine Union College Health Services by sending medical supplies and equipment

1989
AIMS produced a "Special Edition" of the AIMS Journal that reviewed AIMS' history and shared how to form an AIMS chapter

1990
AIMS Health Evangelism Study Guide published </p>

1991
In May, the Southern Mexican Union AlMS-Mexico Inter-chapter Reunion was held
1992
The AIMS Journal spring issue featured the Adventist medical work in the South Pacific Division

O The autumn issue of the AIMS Journal featured the medical work in South America

1993
The AIMS Annual Meeting held on Sabbath, February 6, during APC '93 featured the medical work in Russia

1994
Dr. A. Gordon Goude began compiling a list of all Adventist physicians and AIMS chapters to develop a data base and compile a worldwide directory of AIMS members

1995
Larry Thomas, MD, AIMS president and Dennis Park. AIMS executive director attended the 56th General Conference Session at the Jaarbeurs Convention Center in Utrecht The Netherlands
AIMS manned a booth at the General Conference and held an international meeting on July 5, during the GC Session

1996
The newly formatted AIMS Journal introduced with the winter issue

1997
G. Gordon Hadley, MD, installed as AIMS president on March 1,1997

Our target audience for this website is all of you in the health care and preventive health occupations regardless of whether you are employees of the Church or not. We expect to reach those in government service, secular educational institutions, private practices and everything in between. The prime requirements are that you have internet access and an interest in our common goal to assist our Saviour in His work of "Making Man Whole." We want you to participate regardless of whether or not you are not a member of AIMS or an AIMS chapter

Plans: We hope to add many more things to the library -- items from the 1993 Health Evangelism conferences, General Conference health related statements that are not on the link page, exerpts from the Health Evangelism Study Guide, etc.

And the news section will be enriched as you send us news of what you and your institutions are doing.
